As each leaf falls from its place up high

It creates fleeting moments of beauty

As it twirls in a graceful dance

on its way to the ground

Where it becomes part of a carpet of reds, oranges,

yellows, and brown

And resembles stars sparkling in a night sky

And although the sparkle of stars won’t last forever

they, too, create moments of beauty

during their cycles as they dance

slowly across the heavens
