I was intrigued with a tapestry I saw in Morocco, took a photograph of a section of the tapestry, and modified it. Then I made thermofax screens in several sizes. I created a large piece of fabric with thickened dyes, cut strips from it, and fused them in sections to create the background. Then I screened the main design on it using fabric paint in different values and transparencies. After fusing it to felt, I added hand stitch to emphasize the overall shape and finished it with simple stitches on the edges and beads on the top and bottom edges. The amulet that is sewn on came from a friend’s memorial service. He had purchased several from a source in India before he passed away. The message of this artwork is one of growth and fullfillment.
